This course will provide students the opportunity to learn about Systems Theory, its origins and development. Theoretical constructs involved in understanding family functioning: with a concentration in 1) parental development, 2) the evolving parent-child relationship, and 3) the impact of interactive patterns in infancy and early childhood. Specific issues regarding families with challenges will be explored. To achieve the Student Learning Outcomes, the course combines class participation and discussion, weekly readings and reflections, class presentations, and written Forum assignments.
