Americans have very different life experiences, partially determined by race and class. To what extent are these experiences defined by structures that are visible and changeable? In what ways can and should they be changed? Do people have any success in trying to change them? There are international inequalities as well. Are these accidental? Are they changeable?
This course is a seminar. We read materials and discuss the "big ideas" together, and generally provides a stimulating experience for both the teacher and the students.
